While many of the dealers prices for Stanley planes are largely set by John Walters’ book “Antique & Collectible Stanley Tools” it appears that e Bay, while acknowledging the Walters guide somewhat, tends to march to it’s own beat and sets its own prices.
The Stanley 12-220 block plane is the perfect plane for any cross grain planing that you may need to do.
This is accomplished by setting the cutter at the optimum angle of 21 degrees and it is also fully adjustable.
Manufactured from gray cast iron the bottom as well as the sides are precision ground to give the best possible performance with ease of use and a finger rest positioned at the front of the plane provides good control and comfort while using the plane.
This tool is protected with durable epoxy for a long lasting finish.
They also have a very secure on-line payment system so you can purchase your Stanley 12-220 block hand plane with confidence.
I am starting to get frustrated with the price of Stanley block planes on the bay.It seems anything low angle can't go for lower than -36.Granted I will have to spend significant elbow grease to get an old rusted plane in working condition, why shouldn't I just get a new Stanley low angle ( plus shipping) and tune that into working condition. The cutting edge is made from hardened and tempered tool steel that will give good durability to the plane blade.Stanley hand tools have been around for many years and have a top reputation for quality wood planers and shaping tools. The Stanley 12-247 block plane is very similar to the Stanley 12-220 block hand planer that is another excellent hand tool.
